Domainking Crash: How to get your domain back

It's still a shock to those of us that hosted sites and registered domains with domainking Nigeria that our sites and domains are gone. For website designers, it was a real mess, how do one explain to clients that the site they paid for is gone? I bet most of us lost clients to the mess.

In this post I will be explaining to those that registered domains with domainking.ng how they can retrieve their domains back (as I did to mine).

One thing we must know is that, domainkingNigeria is just a domain reseller, they actually register domains with publicdomainregistry.com (PDR). Now to move your domain, you need to contact PDR to help you move your domain to another reseller.

Luckily for me, I found another reseller of PDR named Qservers.

The following are steps to moving your domain:

  1. First register with Qservers
  2. Download and fill this form from PDR here

  3. NOTE: you have to fill the form manually, then scan it. Since you are transferring to qservers, you will need to contact them through support@qservers.net for their Username and Id with PDR
  4. Scan your means of Identification (Passport, drivers license etc), you can use the temporal ID card issued by NIMC
  5. If you registered with domainking Nigeria with a company name, you may need to Scan the Government proof of the company . (Certificate of Incorporation, Company registration certificate etc)

  6. NOTE: This can be optional
  7. Contact Qservers support, telling them to automatically transfer your domain(s) to their company. You cannot do this yourself since you donot have the EPP CODE. After they have done the transfer, you will then proceed to pay.

  8. Contact PDR through compliance@publicdomainregistry.com informing them of your desire to move domain from to Qservers, send them the filled form, your means of identification and company proof (optional)

If you need help in any of the steps, please let me know, I will be glad to help.

  6. Yeah, it's still down. But with my domain name recovered, I can start the site again.

I'm planning a comeback of the site, I will just have to start all over again because I have no offline backup.
